Teacher Appreciation Week

Teachers change the lives of millions of children every day. Their immense work and impact move us beyond words.

Since 1984, the National Parent Teacher Association has designated one week in May (May 4- May 8) as a special time to honor the men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating our children.

With the abrupt end to the physical school year due to COVID-19, our teachers have done even more to continue education with virtual classrooms and learning at home lessons. All to ensure every student has the tools they need to reach their full potential.

It's in these challenging times that we truly recognize and appreciate how our nation's educators play such a pivotal role in our children's lives, inspiring a lifelong love of learning and discovery while making a difference in their well-being and long-term success.

During Teacher Appreciation Week, let's all shower the teachers in our lives with appreciation and love.

I encourage you to tell a teacher how much you love how they encourage their students in special ways. Tell them how much you like how they have adapted to the transition to virtual classrooms. Celebrate their achievements. Let them know how much you care about their commitment to students and families.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office honors, appreciates and celebrates teachers!
