CJ’S GARAGE OWNER ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER IN DOG MAULING DEATH OF A PINE BLUFF MAN: Jefferson County, Arkansas – April 22, 2015- John Chester Smith (62) also known as “CJ”, owner of CJ’s Garage located at 300 Thomas Road in Jefferson County, AR was arrested today and charged with Manslaughter following the formal filing of the felony offense being leveled against Smith on April 21, 2015 after 8 pit bull terriers escaped from his control and mauled a man to death.

 

Detrick Omar Johnson (36) died March 21, 2015 after being mauled during an attack by 8 pit bull terriers that escaped from CJ’s Garage.  Smith has been charged with 1 count of Manslaughter, a Class C felony under the Arkansas Criminal Code and punishable by 3 to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.00.  

 

Smith is currently being held at the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center on a $5,000.00 secure bond.  If bond is posted, Smith will be ordered to appear before the Honorable Rob Wyatt, Jefferson County Circuit Court, Second Division on June 2, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. for Plea and Arraignment.
