The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce that Delucas Etherly is the Detention Deputy of the Month for February 2020.

Deputy Etherly has exceeded the expectations of a detention deputy for the month of February.

Joining the Jefferson County force over seven years ago, Etherly expressed that he was beyond happy when he received the news that he is recognized as the February Detention Deputy of the Month.

"It feels good to receive this recognition," said Etherly. "I feel honored that I am the very first individual to be recognized as Detention Deputy of the Month."

Etherly began his career with JCSO in 2013 as a jailor at the W.C. "Dub" Brassell Detention Center. He became a patrol deputy in 2016 and decided to go back to the detention center in 2019, where he has now been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Chief Jail Administrator Joseph Gorman expressed that Etherly displayed outstanding performance as a detention deputy in the month of February. "Etherly always has a positive attitude and he goes above and beyond to get daily tasks accomplished," he said.

"It is a humbling experience," said Etherly. "I have learned a lot throughout my tenure with JCSO. I didn't expect to receive any recognition. I just come to work and do my job."

Lieutenant Tamu DeBerry described Etherly as a very good officer. "He listens well and he does everything the way he's supposed to do it," she said.

The quality of dedication is very important for the agency's long-term success. We look forward to Etherly's ability to achieve the highest level of success, and being recognized as Detention Deputy of the Month is just the beginning. We value all our employees and are especially pleased to watch them meet the challenges presented and grow into greater individuals.

It is our sincere hope that you will join us in congratulating Delucas Etherly on his accomplishment and in wishing him continued success at our agency.
