SHERIFF WOODS' STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF WHITEVILLE TOWNSHIP CONSTABLE RICK BILLINGSLEY

Copy of CELEBRATION OF LIFE (002).JPG

As Sheriff of Jefferson County, I extend my deepest condolences on behalf of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office to the family, friends, and fellow constables of Constable Rick Billingsley who passed away on last night.

Constable Rick Billingsley, 62, received his initial law enforcement training from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and in 2004 was elected to the Office of Constable (Whiteville Township). He was also a local businessman, who owned and operated Rick's Rentals for over two decades.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents of the Whiteville Township who along with many others benefited from Constable Billingsley's loyalty and commitment to public safety."

"Constable Billingsley was a great businessman and an even greater public servant, who was dedicated and performed the constitutional duties of the Office of Constable in a manner that brought honor as well as distinction to the entire law enforcement profession."

"We pause in our normal operations to mourn with the Billingsley Family and fellow constables."

The flags at Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, W.C. "Dub" Brassell Adult Detention Center, and Jack Jones Juvenile Justice Center will be lowered to half-staff in tribute to the memory of Constable Billingsley.  The flag shall be lowered immediately and remain at half-staff to the day of interment.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Sincerely,
