Congratulations to all May graduates

Dear Graduates:

Graduation is a milestone that many students and families seek to achieve. For many, I know that the global COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic has shattered senior year excitement for high school and college students alike, as you have missed out on meaningful moments due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions.

Last year, the vast majority of traditional graduation ceremonies were postponed, transformed into a drive-thru, or were conducted virtually.  Nevertheless, it doesn't diminish the quality work each of you displayed to reach this day.  Even though graduation has looked different for many high schools and higher learning institutions, the achievement is still the same.  

Graduates, you should feel especially accomplished as you have completed the school year amid an ongoing pandemic that has disrupted the lives of so many and taken even more around the globe.

When the coronavirus forced some schools to close and others to adapt to unconventional ways of teaching or learning such as virtual, you persevered. You adapted quickly to virtual learning and to a world where we all stayed indoors and learned new ways to connect.

Today your respective fields of study have gained a very promising new addition, and remember that although we're living in a world that at times seems unknown, persistence and dedication will always lead you to success. Congratulations on your graduation and best of luck in your chosen professions.
