HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day Message Logo 5-25-2015.jpg

Dear Citizens:

I would like to thank all of our men and women who have served or are currently in military service to our Country, and I would like for all us to remember the significance of Memorial Day.

Originating after the American Civil War, known then as Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a day in which we remember and honor all men and women who have died in service to our great Country. Please, take time to remember those brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, and be sure to thank a Veteran.

Memorial Day has also become the unofficial start of summer, much like Labor Day is the unofficial start to fall. This means that our roadways will be busy.

Seat belts are the most effective vehicle safety feature ever invented and have helped save thousands of lives. Sadly, many Americans fail to regularly wear a seat belt when driving or riding in a motor vehicle.  I urge you to buckle up, drive sober and please don't text and drive.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office wishes all of you a safe Memorial Day weekend.  Remember: The life you save may be your own!

Sincerely,
