THANK YOU FROM SHERIFF WOODS

Sheriff Lafayette Woods Official Photo.jpgSheriff Lafayette Woods, Jr.

Dear Citizens:

It is my honor to serve as your 32nd Sheriff of Jefferson County. I would like to thank all who served before me. Specifically, former Sheriff Gerald Robinson, now serving as County Judge along with Sheriff Edward “Boe” Fontaine for their leadership and commitment over the past century.

I would also like to congratulate newly elected Jefferson County Officials, Tony Washington (Tax Collector), Hon. Alfred Carroll (Justice of the Peace-Dist. 1), Hon. Patricia Royal Johnson (Justice of the Peace-Dist. 4) on their successful campaigns and look forward to working on the many issues and challenges that our county will face.

I would like to thank all of the members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for your commitment and contributions to our profession and the citizens of Jefferson County, Arkansas. We in law enforcement face many challenges to accomplishing our mission, but as history has proven, together we can and will overcome these challenges.  We know that we will face renewed efforts to legislate the course and direction of law enforcement, often in ways contrary to what we know best serves and protects our communities. We will work collaboratively with our communities, Quorum Court, and Public Safety Committee to seek reasonable solutions to the law enforcement issues and concerns at hand.

I look forward to the future and take comfort in knowing that Jefferson County law enforcement professionals are some of the best trained and equipped in the country. Every day, I challenge my staff to think outside of the box and find ways to do things better.

Sincerely,
