Dear Citizens,

Presidents’ Day, officially Washington’s Birthday is celebrated on the third Monday in February, popularly recognized as honoring George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Presidents’ Day began in the 1880s, when the birthday of George Washington first president of the United States was first celebrated as a federal holiday.

In 1968 Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Bill which moved a number of federal holidays to Mondays, the change allowed for workers to have a number of long weekends throughout the year.  The holiday has sense became known as President’s Day, which celebrates all presidents past and present with ceremonies in Washington, D.C., and throughout the country.

Happy President’s Day!

Sincerely,
