UPDATE:SHERIFF: CAUSE OF DEATH FOR DETAINEE FOUND DEAD IN JEFF CO. JAIL DETERMINED: Jefferson County, Arkansas – January 19, 2019 - Rebecca Esterline-Brixey, a 45-year-old female detainee at the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center (DBDC) operated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, was found dead on December 8, 2018.

The Dec. 8 death has since then been ruled as natural causes. An autopsy was conducted by the State Medical Examiner, who determined Brixey died of complications of alcohol withdrawal syndrome. The autopsy found Brixey suffered from significant alcohol.

Brixey was arrested and transported to DBDC on Nov. 30 for public intoxication. Brixey was also serving 120 court ordered days related to a parole violation by the Arkansas Community Correction.

On Dec. 8, Brixey was found sometime before 9:34 a.m. unresponsive in her cell.
