Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Reacts to Grenade Call: Jefferson County, Arkansas – April 25, 2019 – The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office received a call on Tuesday, April 23rd from a woman stating that while cleaning out her deceased father’s residence, who was also a World War II veteran, they found a box of belongings that contained a grenade and a 20-millimeter round they believed had been brought back from the war. The woman wasn’t sure if the grenade was live or not, so she wanted to properly dispose of it.

Captain Mark Harper went to the Jefferson County residence, retrieved the items and conducted research which led to the determination that the grenade was a training grenade and not a real grenade. “We have it and we will dispose of it properly,” said Harper.
