TRAIN DERAILS IN JEFFERSON COUNTY: Jefferson County, AR – June 22, 2019 – On June 22, 2019 around 9 p.m. Jefferson County deputies responded to a call regarding a train derailment that occurred at Gaddy Koonce Road. There were a dozen tanker cars involved, and there were no hazardous materials and nothing leaking from the train tanker cars. The cause of the derailment is unknown and there are no reported injuries at this time. It was reported that a derailment happened at this exact location in October 2014. Equipment and clean-up crews are on their way from Star City and Memphis to assist with the clean-up. The railroad crossing at Highway 54 is closed until the unaffected parts of the train can be moved and the Gaddy Koonce Road crossing is closed until further notice.
