JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING A HOMICIDE:  Jefferson County, Arkansas - August 13, 2021 - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is currently investigating a homicide.

On Friday, August 13, 2021 at approximately 12:17 p.m. Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched to the area of Elkins Road and Minton Road in regards to a shooting.

Upon arrival they discovered the body of a male on the roadside who had suffered from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.  The male victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelly.  The identity of the victim is not being released at this time pending further investigation.

Shortly after arriving at the scene witnesses described a vehicle that is believed to be involved in the shooting.  Sheriff's Deputies located a vehicle matching that description and a person of interest at the Huddle House at 7335 Sheridan Road, White Hall, AR.

The body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab.  The investigation is active and ongoing.
