UPDATE:  BODY FOUND IN RIVER IDENTIFIED:  Jefferson County, Arkansas - August 28, 2023 - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division has identified the body of a man found in the Arkansas River on Friday, as Mr. Dennis Dees, 53, of Kingsland, AR.

On Friday, August 25, 2023, Sheriff's Investigators recovered a body that had been found in the water by fishermen just down from Lock & Dam 5 in Jefferson.  At that time the identity of the man was unknown.

There were no obvious signs of foul-play, leading investigators to believe that the death is either medical or drowning related.  It appears that Mr. Dees had been fishing from the bank along the river.  The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy.
