Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Celebrates Lifesaving Partnership with Exodus Life and Heat Magazine: Jefferson County, Arkansas - February 26, 2025 - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) is pleased to acknowledge a vital partnership that has significantly contributed to the safety and well-being of both our community and our law enforcement personnel. In collaboration with Exodus Life, a respected faith-based nonprofit, and Andre Braswell of the Heat Magazine, JCSO has enhanced its emergency response capabilities to opioid overdoses.
Recently, JCSO received a crucial donation of four cases of Naloxone (commonly known as Narcan), a life-saving medication used to treat narcotic overdoses in emergencies, delivered by Andre Braswell. This generous contribution supports our officers and the communities they serve, equipping them with necessary tools to combat the increasingly dangerous opioid crisis.
The donation was received by Captain Zekeyia Jackson and Lieutenant Keaira Hawkins, who personally benefited from the availability of Narcan during incidents on January 31, 2025, and December 20, 2023. On both occasions, the quick application of Narcan was instrumental in reversing the effects of opioid exposure experienced by Lieutenant Hawkins, underscoring the critical need for ongoing access to this lifesaving treatment.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Exodus Life for their continued partnership through the Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Site-Based Program, which operates out of both the W.C. "Dub" Brassell Adult Detention Center and the Jack Jones Juvenile Center. This program is a cornerstone of our efforts to empower families and individuals facing challenges related to substance use and mental health.
Special thanks also to Andre Braswell and the Heat Magazine for their support and commitment to public safety. Their contributions not only enhance our operational capabilities but also strengthen our community's resilience against the opioid epidemic.
The JCSO remains committed to safeguarding our community with every resource available and appreciates the support of organizations like Exodus Life and individuals like Andre Braswell who help make our mission possible.
