THE 2-DAY “OPERATION MOTHER’S DAY” CAMPAIGN TARGETING DEADBEAT DADS NETS OVER 38 ARREST TOTALING $339,460.49 IN DELINQUENT CHILD SUPPORT: Jefferson County, Arkansas – May 9, 2013 – Over the last 2-days, more than 48 Deputy Sheriff’s from Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office converged upon areas of Jefferson County, Arkansas in six 4-person teams as part of annual enforcement operation dubbed “Operation Mother’s Day” led by Jefferson County Sheriff Office Operations Commander, Major Lafayette Woods, Jr.  This is the seventh year for the operation, which Sheriff Gerald Robinson started in 2006.  Deputies began each morning of the 2-day operation at 5:30 a.m. at which time deputies participated in an operational briefing where they received their team assignments and were issued outstanding warrants of arrest for individuals delinquent in payments for court ordered child support.  The 2-day operation netted the arrest of over 38 individuals totaling in the amount of $339,460.49 in delinquent child support payments.  Among those arrested for delinquent child support payments, several others were arrested for misdemeanor offences ranging from Hot Check violations to Failure to Appear (FTA).

One of Sheriff Robinson’s many campaign promises when he took to the helm of the Office of Sheriff in 2007 was to hold deadbeat dads more accountable regarding financial support of their children.  The mission of this operation is and always will be to “ensure children and families receive court-ordered financial and medical support” from deadbeat dads.  Although complaints from single mothers regarding little to none financial support of their children from deadbeat dads has minimized since the launch of this operation , non-support from deadbeat dads continues to be a problem for many single mother’s struggling to make ends meet.

Those individuals who are currently non-compliant with the Office of Child Support Enforcement relative to court ordered child support are strongly urged to become compliant prior to Sunday, May 12, 2013.  Those individuals who remain non-compliant through Thursday, May 9, 2013 can surrender themselves to the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center or risk being arrested at a later date.
